Getting Back On Track With Your Goals

One of the biggest challenges of hitting your goal is in
getting side tracked. Something
happens, major or not, that interrupts our momentum and one day, in the sooner
or later, you wake up to realize that you’ve gotten off the track of your goal.
Everyone knows this is detrimental and without putting
yourself back on track you will never make that goal a reality.
Again, I got off track of my goals. I was doing everything right and momentum
was building. Nevertheless, one day I sort of “woke up” to find that nothing
was working anymore, and everything I was doing was just a jumble. Though I was working hard and long everyday
I was getting nowhere really fast.
Maybe you’re super duck, but most people get in that same
place once in a while.
The trick is to get back to what you were doing when you had
the momentum.
This time my problem was that by now I had gotten involved
with additional things that weren’t in line with that previous momentum.
What I had to do was go back to that place and from that
vantage point, judge those additional things, to see if they fit into my goal
plan. If they didn’t fit I had to throw them out, or put them aside, and
determine where the remaining fit into where I was going. It’s not always easy, but it is necessary.
The Guided Missile
We think of a guided missile as always hitting it’s target.
Although, did you know that a guided missile continually veers off course? It hits its target because its course is
also continually being corrected.
That is what we need to do as well. It is human nature to get discouraged and
frustrated and perhaps contemplate quitting when we get off course.
But, if we continually correct out path back to target we
will end up where we set out to go when we launched our personal missile. It’s going to be worth it.
